How to Experience Paris on a Budget

If you’ve ever dreamed of visiting Paris but your bank account screamed “Not today!”, you’re not alone. Even though Paris has a reputation for being one of the most expensive cities in the world, and everyone needs to experience Paris at least once in their life, you don’t need to spend a fortune to experience its charm.

From morning croissants to sparkling Eiffel Tower nights, here’s how to experience Paris on a budget, without breaking the bank

1. Start Your Mornings Like a Local – Not a Tourist.

Forget the pricey hotel breakfasts. Save your money. You can get a flaky croissant and a café crème at a corner bakery for under €3.
Skip the tourist cafés near the Eiffel Tower and try a local boulangerie instead. Places like Du Pain et des Idées or Maison Landemaine will give you that authentic, melt-in-your-mouth experience without draining your pocket. Paris has a bakery on almost every street, you will be spoilt for choice!

2. Walk Everywhere

Aside from the fact that walking is free, Paris is best explored on foot. You’ll find hidden gems, courtyards, and street art that don’t show up on Google Maps.
From Montmartre’s cobblestone streets to the Seine’s riverbanks, walking gives you a free front-row seat to the city’s rhythm.

You can download an offline map and plan walking routes that pass by landmarks. You’ll see more, spend less, and feel the heartbeat of Paris.

3. Soak in Culture Without Spending a Cent

Paris has a ton of free cultural spots; you just need to know where to look. For example, when you visit Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, you have free entry to its permanent collections.

You can also decide to explore Parc des Buttes-Chaumont or Jardin du Luxembourg. They’re both stunning and free.

Keep in mind that the first Sunday of every month from November to March, major museums like the Louvre and Musée d’Orsay offer free entry!

For some, you need to book a timeslot in advance, and for others, you can just do a walk-in. So do some research to be sure.

4. Sleep Smart – Not Expensive

You don’t need a 5-star hotel to enjoy Paris. There are cozy Airbnb studios, boutique hostels, homes, and budget stays that can be surprisingly charming.

However, booking early and staying slightly outside the city center will ensure you pay less and still be a quick metro ride away from the magic.

5. Find Joy in the Simple Pleasures

The beauty of Paris is in the moments. Sit by the Seine at sunset. Watch street performers near Sacré-Cœur. Browse vintage bookstores. Listen to accordion players under bridges.
These are the memories you’ll take home.

In summary, even though Paris is said to be very expensive, you don’t need to break the bank to experience the beauty of Paris.

So go ahead and book that ticket. And when you do, if you need someone to show you round town, we’re only a link away!
